 DELIVER CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS TO THE SALVATION ARMY FOR NEEDY CHILDREN
 LANSING, Mich., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- State Rep. Michael J. Bennane (D-Detroit) and the Michigan Distributors and Vendors Association have cooperated to deliver 200 Christmas stockings filled with candy to children attending a Friday, Dec. 13, party from 3-5 p.m. at The Salvation Army Center, 15133 Burgess, Detroit.
 "I'm very happy to work with The Salvation Army and the association to help the children of our community have a special holiday treat," said Rep. Bennane. "This is a valuable example of concerned and compassionate people from the public and private sector coming together for the benefit of families facing hard times in this special season."
 Statewide, 7,000 stockings donated by the Michigan Distributors and Vendors will be distributed in homeless shelters, veterans' centers, shelters for abused women and children and other social services centers and churches. The Lansing-based state association represents wholesale distributors of candy, tobacco, and grocery products and members of the vending industry, supplying convenience stores, groceries, chain stores and gas stations.
