STARBUCKS COFFEE COMPANY EXPANDS ROOTS IN PACIFIC NORTHWEST WITH NEW KENT ROASTING PLANT

 SEATTLE, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Howard Schultz, chairman and CEO of Starbucks Coffee Company (NASDAQ-NMS: SBUX), announced today that the Seattle-based company is expanding its corporate headquarters to include a new 300,000 square foot roasting, packaging and distribution facility to be constructed in Kent Valley.
 Starbucks will be the lead tenant in Trammel Crow's new Kent North Business Park, located approximately 15 miles south of downtown Seattle, and plans to occupy the facility this fall. Both existing sites and "build to suit" alternatives were analyzed for months prior to this decision. The Company will continue to roast coffee and utilize office space at its current location on Airport Way.
 "Although there were numerous opportunities to establish a roasting and distribution plant elsewhere in the country," Schultz continues, "We were firmly committed to locating this second facility here in the Pacific Northwest."
