CO-STAR CRUSHES

GWYNETH PALTROW

As well as awards, Gwyn's not averse to collecting leading men. It all started on the set of Seven, when she played Brad Pitt's wife. As well as losing her head, she lost her heart to the blond God, but after three years and a brief engagement it was all over. Gwyn said, `My heart sort of broke... and it'll never be the same.' This didn't stop her getting entangled with Ben Affleck, who she met on Shakespeare In Love, but that relationship didn't go the distance either. Since then she's dated her Royal Tenenbaums co-star Luke Wilson, and is rumoured to be seeing her Possession colleague Aaron Eckhart. Not bad for a girl who complains she can't get a date.

JULIA ROBERTS

Julia Roberts has just tied the knot with cameraman Daniel Moder, who she met on the set of The Mexican. It makes a change for Julia, who normally goes for men who work front of house. Julia's past co-star conquests include Dylan McDermott (Steel Magnolias) Kiefer Sutherland, (Flatliners) and Liam Neeson (Satisfaction). She hooked up with Matthew Perry after a guest appearance on Friends - before he allegedly got sick of her leaving her dirty knickers on his bathroom floor.

TOM CRUISE

The Cruiser is another actor who takes a keen interest in his on- screen lovers. As a rising star he met Rebecca De Mornay on the set of comedy Risky Business, and they lived together for two years, before a very unamicable split. On Days of Thunder he was at it again, romancing the then relatively unknown Nicole Kidman. The marriage ended in a shock split in 2001 - but it wasn't long before Cruise was declaring his love for Vanilla Sky co-star Penelope Cruz.

A-LIST LIAISONS

FREDDIE PRINZE JNR AND SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR

Sarah and Freddie met five years ago on the set of slasher flick I Know What You Did Last Summer - but it took a while for love to find a way. `I was attracted to him then, but he was in a relationship and we just hung out together.' Luckily for Sarah, she made an impression on Freddie and after he'd split up with his girlfriend, the pair started going out - the happy couple got hitched earlier this month.

SADIE FROST AND JUDE LAW

Jude and Sadie may cringe at the dreadful ram-raiding film Shopping they co-starred in back in 1994, but at least it brought them together. She was a cradle-snatching 26 to his 22, but she spotted Jude's, er, potential right away, despite the fact she was married to Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp at the time. `From the start, I knew I was falling in love,' says Sadie. `There was a lot at stake, but I knew Jude was The One.' Now, they're London's King and Queen of Cool and raising their ever-expanding family in Primrose Hill.

ETHAN HAWKE

AND UMA THURMAN

They've got looks, talent, and are happily married with two children - all thanks to a sci-fi flick. `When we started filming Gattaca we had time to get to know each other - slowly - and a relationship developed,' says Thurman. `I realised this was someone I wanted to spend a lot of time with. Since that moment, these have been better times for me.'

DAVID ARQUETTE

AND COURTENEY COX

The Cox-Arquette's first met on the set of Scream, and got together during the making of Scream 2. `We were in crush mode during the first film. But I had just come out of a long-term relationship and he was dating more than one person. But I thought, "Boy, he is cute",' says Cox. Later the two moved things up a notch. `We met at a party and there was this electricity between us.' They married in 1999 and exchanged rings engraved with, `A Deal's A Deal'.

BRITISH BONKING

Alan Davies & Julia Sawalha

These curly tops met when she joined Jonathan Creek to film the Christmas Special. They deny rumours of romance, despite being spotted looking lovey- dovey. Sawalha once told an interviewer, `I find him attractive, but you know what luvvies are like. They kiss and cuddle a lot, saying, "I love you" all the time. Alan's just a friend.'

Mark Womack & Samantha Janus

Sam is the picture of happiness with Mark and baby Ben. But getting together was a bit messy as, when they met on police drama Liverpool One, they were married to other people. Janus was even named as `the other woman' on Mark's divorce petition. `Sam validates herself through men. She chews them up and spits them out,' declared Womack's ex-wife, Therese.

Keeley Hawes & Matthew MacFadyen

All that cloak and dagger action must have come in handy when these two met on the set of the BBC1 espionage drama Spooks. Although it was only five months since Keeley had married Spencer McCallum, father of their son Myles, she was spotted snogging MacFadyen, and they have now set up home together.
