STAR MANUFACTURING INTERNATIONAL ENGAGES INVESTMENT BANKING FIRM TO SOLICIT PROPOSALS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF STAR

 ST. LOUIS, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Star Manufacturing International Inc. announced today that its Board of Directors has engaged the investment banking firm Bowles Hollowell Conner & Co. of Charlotte, N.C. to solicit proposals for the acquisition of Star. The Company is a leading manufacturer of commercial cooking appliances for restaurants, fast-food operators, convenience stores and other foodservice providers. Star is among the market leaders in certain targeted niches, including hot dog preparation equipment, popcorn poppers, fryer, griddles, specialty food warmers and mobile foodservice carts.
 Privately-held Star is headquartered in St. Louis, Mo. and operates manufacturing facilities in Smithville, Tenn. Star was acquired from The Pullman Company in 1989 in a leveraged buyout led by Merrill Lynch Interfunding Inc. and management.
