STANLEY FURNITURE NAMES SCHEFFER PRESIDENT.
Scheffer will report to Albert Prillaman, who continues as chairman and chief executive officer.
"The globalization of the industry is accelerating, and Jeff's experience will help Stanley address these opportunities more aggressively," Prillaman said.
As imported case goods have flooded the industry, Stanley has been one of the hold-outs, producing all its finished goods domestically. The company will introduce its first imported product, dining chairs, at the upcoming market in High Point, N.C.
"We continue to be encouraged by the potential high-growth opportunity in the Young America [juvenile furniture] and home office categories," Prillaman said. "At the same time, we see many opportunities for additional growth in our core bedroom and dining room business."
Stanley also named Doug Payne executive vice president of finance and administration. He continues as chief financial officer.
