STANDARD LOGIC ANNOUNCES APPOINT'S RECORD REVENUES AND EARNINGS
ANAHEIM, Calif., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard Logic Inc. (NASDAQ: STDL) announced today that Appoint Inc., a Paso Robles, Calif.- based privately held company with which it is in the process of finalizing a merger agreement, reported net income of $140,331 on revenues of $2,073,691 for the first quarter ended March 31, 1992, an increase of 553 percent over last year's first quarter revenues.
For the three-month period ended March 31, 1992, the company earned $140,331 on revenues of $2,073,691, compared to a net loss of $185,671 on revenues of $317,476 for the same period last year. Revenues for the entire 1991 fiscal year were $2.5 million. The dramatic increase in revenues has been attributed to the growing demand for high dexterity, portable pointing devices brought about by explosive growth in the notebook and laptop computer markets and the Windows platform for IBM systems and compatible computers.
Appoint designs, manufactures and markets second-generation input devices for IBM compatible, portable computers and the Apple Macintosh. "The increase in our revenues is fundamental," said Jack Barrett, chief executive officer of Appoint. "There is an unprecedented demand for high-dexterity, cost-effective pointing devices. Appoint's award- winning product line has answered this call by responding quickly to market needs."
For the year ended Dec. 31, 1991, revenues were $2.5 million with a loss of $2.6 million. Appoint is projecting revenues of $10 million-$12 million for the 1992 fiscal year, according to Barrett. The 1992 projections assume the merger with Standard Logic Inc. will be completed and the subsequent number of shares outstanding will be approximately 16.5 million. The merger agreement is expected to be consummated in June.
Since 1967, Standard Logic has specialized in the development and sale of electronics products and services to the electronic packaging industry. In addition, the company provides software and wire-wrapping services for its in-house products to numerous commercial and military customers.
