STANDARD FEDERAL CHAIRMAN RECEIVES 'TOP CEO' HONOR

 TROY, Mich., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard Federal Bank (NYSE: SFB) announced today that Thomas R. Ricketts, chairman of the board and president, was named a bronze-award honoree by The Wall Street Transcript, the global information center for business and finance, in its survey of "Top CEOs." Ricketts placed among the top three CEOs in the thrift industry in the nation.
 According to The Wall Street Transcript, the primary test of a "Top CEO" is the extent to which he or she has taken proper steps to enhance overall value of the enterprise for the benefit of stockholders. The selections were based on interviews with industry executives, leading financial analysts, money managers, trade journalists, members of the academic community and other professional sources.
