ST. LUCIE CITED BY NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION FOR OUTSTANDING SAFETY PERFORMANCE

HUTCHINSON ISLAND, Fla., Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Florida Power & Light Company announced today, that for the second time in a row, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), cited the St. Lucie nuclear power plant as one of the superior operating nuclear plants. The NRC named St. Lucie and three other nuclear plants for their quality operations. St. Lucie was also on the NRC's list of plants with sustained high levels of safety performance in July 1992.
These plants show "consistently high performance and warrant recognition," said Thomas Murley, director of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. "Plants considered for superior performance ratings are held up to the highest scrutiny," said NRC Chairman Ivan Selin.
