ST. GEORGE METALS ELECTS NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
HOUSTON, Nov. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- St. George Metals, Inc. (Over-The- Counter symbol: SGGM) has elected three new members to its board of directors: William E. Gipson, Carlton M. Henson and Fred G. Pollard. Two directors fill vacancies, and the third increases the board membership to eight.
Gipson, a geologist, recently retired as president of Pogo Producing Company, a Houston-based oil and gas producer. Formerly vice president of Exploration at Pennzoil Company, Gipson joined Pogo when it was formed in 1977. His several degrees in geology are from the University of Texas. Gipson is 67 and resides in Houston.
Henson is the managing partner of McAlpin & Henson, attorneys-at- law, in Atlanta. He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and the University of Georgia law school. Henson is 38 and lives in Atlanta.
Pollard, a lawyer, received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Virginia. He is a former long-time member of the Virginia State Legislature, lieutenant governor of Virginia and rector of the Board of Visitors, University of Virginia. Pollard, 73, serves as counsel to the Richmond, Va., law firm, Williams, Mullen, Christian and Dobbins.
The two board vacancies were formerly occupied by Dewuse Guyton, partner in the Houston, law firm of Butler & Binion, and James Remington-Hobbs, managing partner of Baring Securities Ltd., London.
Neal O. Wade Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of St. George Metals, said the board will miss the input from Guyton and Remington- Hobbs, both of whom cited pressing new commitments as their reason for leaving St. George's board. Wade then commented he was delighted with the new board additions, indicating their cumulative backgrounds and years of business experience should prove most helpful to St. George's future, particularly as it moves toward becoming a producing company.
In addition to Wade, the remaining St. George Metals, Inc. board members are: Frank R. Barry of Vancouver, Canada; Dr. W. Timothy Meyer of Lakewood, Colo.; Harrison Nesbit II of Charlottesville, Va.; and Ralph D. Rooney of Menlo Park, Calif.
