ST. BERNARD EXPANDS ITS OPEN FILE BACKUP TO PROVIDE OPTIMIZED DATA PROTECTION.

St. Bernard Software, a provider of security solutions that prevent data loss, system threats and Internet abuse, announced recently the release of its enhanced open file backup solution, Open File Manager V8.0.

In an effort to accommodate increasing storage management needs of companies worldwide, Open File Manager V8.0 offers an array of new features including added support for Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows XP, a new Mass Deployment Tool for Enterprise organizations and enhanced clustering capabilities for data protection in high availability environments.

Support for Windows XP enables organizations to place an increased emphasis on workstations as they revise their disaster recovery plans. Furthermore, as organizations plan for future operating system deployments, Open File Manager will continue to support customers with upcoming V8.x releases of Windows .NET Server, .NET Enterprise Server and NetWare 6.

The new Mass Deployment Tool offered with V8.0 lets IT professionals easily administer large deployments of Open File Manager without user interaction, by allowing them to pre-configure the product once, and then install it to multiple computers as part of a larger backup solution deployment.

Open File Manager V8.0's enhanced clustering capabilities provide network administrators with the model solution for open file backup in clustered environments. If failover occurs to a system where Open File Manager is running during a backup, it will automatically un-synchronize and then re-synchronize, allowing the new volume to join the current backup, ensuring the highest standard for data protection.

"St. Bernard Software continues to meet its customers' changing open file backup needs," said Geoff Clow, director of software engineering at St. Bernard Software. "With the enhancements we have made to V8.0, we are able to extend open file backup support to companies of all sizes who realize the importance of developing a fail-proof disaster recovery plan."

Open File Manager solidifies a company's data protection strategy by allowing existing backup software to successfully capture files that are open and in use during the backup process, ensuring that an organization's most critical data is backed up completely and uncorrupted.

St. Bernard Software is a provider of security solutions that prevent data loss, system threats and Internet abuse. The company has three primary product lines. Open File Manager successfully captures files that are open and in use during the backup process, protecting mission-critical data 24x7. UpdateEXPERT solves system and application security problems by keeping software patch levels current. iPrism, a self-contained Internet filtering appliance, controls inappropriate Internet access, providing protection from legal liability suits while increasing productivity and conserving network bandwidth. Headquartered in San Diego, St. Bernard Software is a privately-held company with an international sales office in London.
