ST ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES ACQUIRES MCCULLOUGH ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES; MAKES STES MARKET LEADER

WAKEFIELD, Mass., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Massachusetts-based ST Environmental Services (STES) has acquired McCullough Environmental Services of Murfreesboro, Tenn., in a transaction which confirms STES's position as the fastest growing water and wastewater utility contract operator in the U.S.
The acquisition extends STES's contract operations in the U.S., by adding McCullough's water and wastewater contracts in Tennessee, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Florida.
McCullough operates 19 water and wastewater plants for both municipal and private customers. McCullough Chairman Charles F. Byrd joins STES in an executive management position.
"Charles Byrd's knowledge and experience in the industry will be invaluable in expanding our full range of operational and management services," says Jack Bonomo, STES president.
"The addition of McCullough's contracts strengthens our market position and makes us one of the top three wastewater and water utility contract operations firms in the U.S.," says Bonomo. "Additionally, we are ideally positioned for privatization projects throughout the U.S., which will continue to be an emerging market throughout the 90s."
Byrd says, "We look forward to joining with STES. We are combining and strengthening our program to provide state-of-the-art contract operations to our existing customers and to a broader base of new clients. Our clients will achieve significant benefits."
The acquisition of McCullough follows the purchase of the AM-TEX Corporation of Houston in May, with water and wastewater contracts throughout the Southwestern Region of the U.S.
