The SRS WOW HD audio enhancement technology from SRS Labs, a company that develops, markets and licenses audio technologies, has been licensed to Pantech, a handset manufacturer in South Korea, for use in its handsets.
Pantech has used the 3D stereo enhancement technology in its IM-U130 CDMA handset, reportedly making it the first customer to enable the technology.
The company said the mobile phone, which is designed as a music jukebox, is available now on Korea's SK Telecom network. SRS WOW HD offers 3D stereo with improved high frequency sound clarity and low frequency bass performance, especially on the micro speaker and earphones.
According to SRS Labs, SRS WOW HD improves stereo rendering, providing dynamic performance from stereo and mono sources, and also widens the auto field for more natural sound, sculpts bass response and restores audio clarity.
Pantech used Telechips, a platform partner of SRS Labs which markets SRS WOW HD on its TTC772 multimedia applications processor, to enable the feature on a Qualcomm-based CDMA handset.
