SR 250 million for transferring railroad line.

T he President of the General Orga- nization for Railroads, Eng. Abdul Aziz Al Huqail has said that the General Organization is requesting the Ministry of Finance for approval of SR 250 mil- lion required for initiating the project of transferring the railroad track crossing Al Ahsa Governorate.

The aim is to trans- fer the track 40 kilometers away from urban populated areas of Al Ahsa as the track goes through a number of impor- tant road crossings and the passengers' journeys are delayed due to keeping the trains' speed at low levels, as well stoppages of the trains due to vehicles crossing the track at various points. Eng. Abdul Aziz Al Huqail said that the General Organization was waiting for the Ministry's approval, after which tenders would be invited from qualified contractors for the transfer of track and the contract would then be awarded to the most capable contracting firm. He added that the engineering de- signs of the project have already been completed and finalized by specialized consulting firms, in accordance with the highest standards and specifications approved internationally for laying rail- road tracks.
