 SQUARE D COMPANY SELLS GENERAL SEMICONDUCTOR
 INDUSTRIES' MODULE AND TRANSISTOR PRODUCTS LINES
 PALATINE, Ill., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Square D Company, parent of General Semiconductor Industries, Inc. (GSI), announced today that it has sold the module product line of GSI to ProTek Devices, L.P., of Tempe, Ariz. The product lines include all Mega Diodes, data line and power line protection products, all module assemblies, hermetic arrays, custom plastic arrays and other assorted products, including a license for Surgebuster(C) products.
 Square D also announced that it has sold its GSI transistor product line to Semicoa Semiconductors of Costa Mesa, Calif.
 Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.
 Square D Company is one of the key businesses of Schneider North America -- one of three geographic entities of the industrial businesses of Groupe Schneider, headquartered in Paris, France. The sale of these GSI product lines is consistent with the Schneider North America strategy to focus on its core electrical distribution and industrial control businesses.
 With 1991 sales of approximately $11 billion, Groupe Schneider is the global leader in electrical distribution, automation and industrial control products, systems and services.
