SPY STAR QUITS BBC FOR BABY; EXCLUSIVE.

Byline: by CAMERON ROBERTSON

SPOOKS star Nicola Walker has quit the BBC spy series after becoming pregnant.

The actress, who plays MI5 intelligence analyst Ruth Evershed, will leave midway though the fifth series later this year.

A TV insider said: "Nicola's very sad to be leaving but her character has a really dramatic storyline - it's not what you expect."

Ruth is expected to quit MI5 as "a matter of principle".

Nicola lives in north London with actor boyfriend Barnaby Kay, 34. She joined the series, which has 8million viewers, in 2003.

She also starred as DI Susan Taylor in the ITV thriller Touching Evil in the 90s.

Last year, Polish actress Olga Sosnovska, who played Fiona Carter, left Spooks when she discovered she was pregnant.
