SPRINT VIDEO OFFERS VIDEOTELECOM CONFERENCING SYSTEMS
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint Video announced

the availability of VideoTelecom systems as part of its end-to-end approach to videoconferencing.
VideoTelecom, located in Austin, Texas, manufactures videoconferencing and MediaConferencing room systems. These systems provide advanced features such as an electronic "whiteboard," which enables users to share a drawing surface between videoconference locations by using an electronic tablet and pen. It also allows users to capture, store, retrieve and forward high-resolution images and annotate them with drawings and text.
The systems use MediaMax as a platform to transfer and revise personal computer (PC) files and other documents during a conference. All data can be copied to a diskette. Sprint Video expects to have two MediaMax codecs (video coders/decoders) available for gateway services in the spring of 1992.
"These enhancements add to Sprint's leading-edge status in the videoconferencing industry," said Tony Jatcko, vice president and general manager, Sprint Video Group. "In these days of tight travel budgets, our ability to make videoconferencing as easy as a face-to-face meeting becomes a real plus to business people."
All of VideoTelecom's products are PC-based and completely software-controlled. This approach ensures that users have a convenient means of enhancing their video communications systems with the latest capabilities via diskette to stay current with evolving communications standards.
Sprint Video operates the world's largest videoconferencing network, the Sprint Meeting Channel, over the nation's first 100 percent digital fiber-optic network. The Meeting Channel offers service between more than 1,200 videoconference rooms in 35 countries.
Sprint Video provides a full range of services, including equipment sales and contract maintenance, project management, network management, user training programs and access to hundreds of public videoconferencing rooms. Users of Sprint's videoconferencing services include Fortune 500 companies, colleges, universities and government agencies.
Sprint is a unit of United Telecommunications, Inc. (NYSE: UT), a diversified international telecommunications company with $8.7 billion in revenues. Sprint, with the United States' only nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network, provides a comprehensive array of global voice, data and video communications products and services.
