 SPRINT SIGNS AGREEMENT TO ASSIST NEW YORK
 KANSAS CITY, Mo., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON)


announced today it has signed an agreement with New York Mayor David Dinkins' New York City Metropolitan Region Mutual Aid and Restoration Consortium that will assist the city in the event of a major outage.
 The agreement will obligate each signing telecommunications carrier to assist other carriers in the event of a major facility outage in the New York area.
 "Sprint feels strongly that we have an obligation to all consumers concerning reliability," said Karl Kramer, Sprint's vice president of network operations. "We have built our own support systems to help prevent major outages and are glad to share that support with other carriers in the event of a major telecommunications failure.
 "The New York area is one of the most important financial and commercial centers in the world. It is imperative that all carriers work together to ensure against a recurrence of the major network failures experienced by other carriers which have plagued the metropolitan area in the recent past."
