 KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) today launched a special promotion of its leading residential calling plan -- The Most(SM) -- that will save consumers 50 percent on long distance calls to the person they call the most each month.
 When signing up for The Most during the promotion period, customers receive 50 percent off the one number talked to the most. Customers also receive an automatic 20 percent discount on calls to all other Sprint customers. In addition, when the person talked to the most is also a Sprint customer, Sprint combines the discounts for an effective overall savings of 60 percent. This special offer is good for six months after signing up for The Most during the promotion period.
 "The Most has been a resounding success since we introduced it in June of 1992," said Dave Schmieg, president of Sprint's Consumer Services Group. "This promotion provides an opportunity for customers to become familiar with some of Sprint's services and benefits and, at the same time, take advantage of the savings from The Most."
 After the first six months, customers receive the standard discounts offered with The Most. Customers receive 20 percent off the one number talked to the most each month. A 20 percent discount is applied on calls to other Sprint customers. When the person talked to the most is also a Sprint customer, the discounts are combined for a savings of 36 percent.
 The promotion will be offered primarily through TV advertising, beginning Sept. 15 and running through Dec. 31. Sprint spokeswoman Candice Bergen will star in the commercials, which will advertise "We'll split it with you," sending the message that consumers can talk twice as long to the one person called the most for the same money.
 Unlike traditional residential calling plans, The Most has no plan restrictions -- customers can call anyone, anytime, anywhere and receive discounts. The discounts are available on in-state, state-to-state, international and FONCARD(SM) calls made outside of the local telephone company's service area.
 In July, Sprint announced a revolutionary international calling plan, The Most WORLDWIDE(SM). The plan offers for the first time two simple 12-hour calling periods and automatic 20 percent discounts on the two international numbers with the most usage each month, anytime, anywhere.
