 TO MAKE CALLING EASIER AND MORE PRODUCTIVE
 KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) announced today the introduction of a new Sprint FONCARD that will enable customers to dial fewer digits to complete a call, place calls with an easy-to-remember card number and have new technology at their fingertips.
 The new Sprint FONCARD represents the most significant changes to the company's calling card offering since its original introduction in 1987. As a special incentive, Sprint is offering new customers who order the card 100 free minutes of long distance calling.
 The Sprint FONCARD features a variety of Easy Features designed for domestic and international business travelers. It will make FONCARD long distance calling simpler and enable customers to save time, effort and money while also providing new information.
 "Our original FONCARD was one of the most exciting and popular offerings we ever introduced," said Ron LeMay, president and chief operating officer at Sprint. "Now, with the new Sprint FONCARD, we are once again taking a great idea and dramatically improving it."
 The new FONCARD will retain the familiar Sprint mirror look, but will now feature an outline of the world on the front. Simplified two-step directions on the back of the card make it easier than ever to call domestically, internationally and make multiple calls without re-dialing the FONCARD number.
 "This isn't so much a calling card, but rather, a personal productivity tool," said LeMay. "Customers asked for a card that's easy-to-use and has the features they wanted. Sprint has delivered."
 Some of the Easy Features of the new Sprint FONCARD include:
 -- 10333 0+ ACCESS -- Sprint customers will now be able to use the company's easy-to-remember industry access code (10333) to access the Sprint network, meaning they will have fewer digits to dial to complete calls. The traditional 800-877-8000 access number will be used for secondary access.
 -- VOICE PROMPTS -- Call placement is easier for infrequent users who will be guided through the process with voice prompts to place a call. Customers will dial 10333 0+ (area code and number) and hear "Welcome to Sprint" and then be prompted to enter their FONCARD number. Once completed, they will hear "Thank you for using Sprint." Frequent users familiar with the system will be able to quickly dial through the prompts.
 -- NEW FONCARD NUMBERS -- To assist callers in remembering their FONCARD number, most of Sprint's FONCARD numbers will be based on the subscriber's home or office telephone numbers, plus a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
 The FONCARD number could be (Area Code), (7-digit local phone number) plus the (XXXX) PIN to make it easy to remember and more personalized.
 -- SPRINT EXPRESS -- When traveling abroad, callers can place calls back home by simply dialing a toll-free number to reach a Sprint operator in the U.S. and bill the call to their Sprint FONCARD.
 -- GLOBAL CALLING -- Customers can place calls originating from selected countries to anywhere in the world and be billed to their FONCARD in their home currency. There is no need for customers to hassle with foreign currencies or hotel surcharges.
 -- INTERNATIONAL OPERATOR SERVICES -- Lets a Sprint FONCARD customer complete international operator-assisted calls for person- to-person, international directory assistance and international general assistance to 224 countries in the world.
 International callers find it easier than ever to place calls using Sprint's FONCARD when they are unfamiliar with international dialing and can access Sprint international operator assistance 24-hours-a-day.
 -- SPRINT MESSAGE DELIVERY -- The frustration of not reaching a called party is eliminated by this customized feature of the new Sprint FONCARD. It is a communications tool that enables consumers to easily leave a message for a party when the line is busy or they are not available to take a call. Customers can leave messages for parties domestically and internationally.
 Messages can be attempted once every hour for eight hours; once every 15 minutes for two hours; or even customized for delivery up to five days in the future. The delivery of messages can also be verified and the called party is offered the opportunity to reply to the caller with their own voice message.
 -- SPRINT INFO LINE -- Sprint FONCARD users can easily access a variety of useful information such as stock market reports, sports scores, weather reports and news. Busy travelers have a convenient method of accessing information, any time of the day.
 -- SPRINT QUICKCONFERENCE -- Customers can make three-way conference calls effortlessly, seven-days-a-week, 24-hours-a-day at their convenience and without operator assistance. This feature involves no subscription fees and no reservations.
 -- ACCOUNTING CODES -- Sprint enables FONCARD users to easily categorize and control long distance costs by assigning codes to a roommate, department, client or project. Customers on the move can save time by having bills pre-grouped to facilitate fast, accurate client or project billing for long distance charges.
 "We have listened to the marketplace and developed a comprehensive calling card that meets the needs of people on the go," said LeMay. "We have made many valuable improvements to our calling card line since its initial introduction, but none as sweeping, or as important, to customers as this one."
