SPRINT EXTENDS INTERNATIONAL PRIVATE LINE SERVICE IN LATIN AMERICA, EUROPE
WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) today announced the extension of its International CLEARLINE private line service in South America and Europe. The new locations include Brazil, Chile, Italy and Spain.
Sprint's International CLEARLINE is a digital, private leased circuit service geared for organizations with high traffic volume between two locations. International CLEARLINE offers speeds up to the international E1 (2.048 Mbps) at rates considerably lower than standard international direct distance dialing for voice, fax, data and video transmissions.
"CLEARLINE continues to be a popular business service for its convenience and cost efficiency," said Bill Blessing, vice president and general manager for Telecommunications Services for Sprint International, Sprint's global telecommunications subsidiary. "Sprint will continue to expand CLEARLINE service to the world's major commercial centers."
International CLEARLINE service to Europe offers high-quality, all-digital transmission via submarine fiber-optic cable systems TAT-8, TAT-9 and PTAT, the system co-owned by Sprint and Cable and Wireless Plc of the United Kingdom. International CLEARLINE is monitored, maintained and serviced 24-hours-a-day, every day of the year by Sprint's International Dedicated Service Center in New York.
In addition to the four new International CLEARLINE countries, Sprint also offers the service in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Sprint expects to announce additional countries in the fourth quarter of this year.
Sprint is a diversified international telecommunications company with $8.9 billion in annual revenues and the United States' only nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network. Its divisions provide global long distance voice, data and video products and services, and local telephone services to more than 4 million subscriber lines in 17 states.
NOTE: CLEARLINE is a service mark.
