 SPRINT COMES OUT SWINGING FOR THE SMALL BUSINESS CUSTOMER
 NEW YORK, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) today announced an unprecedented "one-two punch" for the nation's small business market. It teams the industry's most innovative, integrated business solutions with the best overall savings to provide small businesses the telecommunications services they want. The result is the best telecommunications value ever available to small business customers.
 Called Business Clout, this new program allows small business customers who bill between $50 and $2,500 a month to bundle their usage of outbound calling, 800 services and calling card services with those of other small businesses in their area. In this way, they realize discount levels previously reserved only for big business customers.
 Business Clout, coupled with Sprint Clarity -- an integrated business solution platform announced in January -- is a revolutionary strategic thrust into the small business market. The one-two punch of Sprint Business Clout and Sprint Clarity gives small business owners unparalleled value and extraordinary functionality to meet their telecommunications needs.
 Through Business Clout, Sprint will merge the buying power of small business owners' long distance usage with usage of other small businesses in their area. As a group, they then will achieve guaranteed savings of more than 20 percent vs. AT&T basic direct-dial interstate rates.
 "Sprint's Business Clout allows small business customers to call anyone, anytime, anywhere in the world," said Gary Forsee, president of Sprint's Business Services Group. "With Business Clout, there are no restrictions. Inbound or outbound. And it doesn't matter what carrier the called party uses."
 AT&T and MCI cannot make similar claims. "AT&T reserves this level of savings only for its big business customers," Forsee pointed out. "MCI wants its small business customers to be marketing agents. AT&T and MCI limit their plans to outbound calling only, and they deliver their promised savings only when their respective customers call other customers on the same plan.
 "Sprint doesn't expect small business owners to sacrifice their independence, flexibility or privacy," Forsee said. "With Business Clout, small business customers need only sign up for the program. We do the rest.
 "With MCI's program, customers have to provide sales leads or referrals to the company to qualify for such savings," Forsee continued. "Then those leads must agree to join a limited circle of callers. We don't think that's right. We do our own marketing. We work for our small business customers rather than expecting them to work for us. We're giving those customers what they tell us they want -- simplicity and value with no hassles."
 Business Clout builds on the Sprint Clarity integrated business product platform introduced in January. Together, they provide choice without confusion. "It's easy for the customer to understand, easy to use. And the savings are easy to calculate," Forsee said. "Sprint is offering Business Clout to customers who spend $50 a month or more per service location. Customers sign up for Business Clout on the basis of a renewable one-year commitment. There are no other conditions or requirements."
 Sprint Clarity is an adaptable, single-product solution for the changing needs of small business customers. Sprint Clarity features a single pricing structure with regional and national rates, multi- location and multi-product discounts and enhancements that make big business communications solutions available to the small business owner. In addition to 800 services, Sprint Clarity offers multi- location conferencing with Sprint Clarity Conference Line, broadcast fax to multiple locations and document on demand with SprintFAX, and PC-Based, menu-driven software to generate customized billing reports with FONVIEW.
