SPRINT AWARDED $4 MILLION CONTRACT BY ADVO INC.
KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) today announced a three-year, $4 million contract to provide voice and data services to Advo Inc., the nation's largest direct mail marketing company. Previously, Advo used separate vendors to provide these services to its 104 locations nationwide. With Sprint's Virtual Private Network, Advo is able to communicate with all locations using a single dialing plan while saving an estimated $35,000 per month. At the same time, Advo converted to Sprint's 800 service to provide toll-free calling to some of its larger locations. With Sprint's 800 service, Advo received pricing advantages and advanced features required to handle a large volume of 800 calls. Bill Noonan, communications manager at Advo, said Sprint's exceptional customer service was pivotal in the selection. "I've worked with Sprint in the past and knew about its outstanding reputation for providing quality service," Noonan said. "Sprint demonstrates unyielding dedication and commitment to its customers, and that's what we were looking for -- a company that would be responsive to our needs." To meet Advo's schedule, Sprint orchestrated the installation of T-1 high-speed voice/data lines at 27 different locations in less than a month, a challenge the company met with flying colors. The country's largest direct marketing firm, Advo is the U.S. Post Office's largest private customer, with over 20 billion pieces of mail going out every year. Advo, working in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, is responsible for the "Have you seen this child?" flier that arrives in millions of mailboxes each week along with an assortment of advertising circulars. The program, now in its eighth year, has helped recover and reunite 61 children with their families.
