SPRINT ANNOUNCES NEW VERSION OF BILLING MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE; NOW AVAILABLE ON CD-ROM OPTICAL DISC

WASHINGTON, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) today announced it has become the first company to offer businesses of all sizes a way to monitor and manage their voice telecommunications across all accounts and locations with a single powerful software program.
Sprint's FONVIEW version 4.1, a PC-based telecommunications management system, provides the most comprehensive analysis and reporting features available in the industry for a company's outbound and inbound call records. The introduction of the software program in FONVIEW 4.1 makes available for the first time the ability to manage billing for all calls from all locations and for all Sprint voice services, including inbound, outbound and calling card calls, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) services.
"The added capabilities offered in FONVIEW 4.1 allow users unprecedented flexibility and ease," said Tom Weigman, Sprint's chief marketing officer. "For example, customers can customize calling card and accounting code reports with user names at different locations to easily and efficiently allocate costs. They also can take 12-month snapshots' of their telecommunications usage or receive extensive call detail analyses -- all with the convenience of a PC."
The new FONVIEW offers the following advantages:
 -- Hierarchical Analysis
FONVIEW offers more than 50 standard hierarchical and account level reports -- all presorted to execute quickly. In addition to access to all of their standard Sprint billing hierarchies, businesses can create up to 999 custom reporting hierarchies of services and/or locations -- such as all 800 accounts, each telemarketing center or all New York sales offices -- to thoroughly analyze telecommunications services and usage. Other companies require a different software package to analyze each service or location within a business's hierarchy.
 -- 800 Call Management
Not only is FONVIEW particularly effective in managing and analyzing call patterns by a company's employees, but it also shows the customer calling patterns on a company's 800-service lines. FONVIEW's 800 call analysis capability can be useful to company executives who need to know the call response volume to advertising efforts in a particular market or for nationwide campaigns. The software program can categorize and graph the area code, state and country origination point of 800-number calls made into telemarketing centers or other company locations. Call length and volume also can be charted for any time of the day. The 800 Call Routing Report shows the number, minutes and costs of calls to each of a company's 800 numbers. The report pinpoints the terminating location of each 800 call among a company's multiple locations.
 -- ReBilling Capabilities
The new FONVIEW also includes Sprint's ReBilling System (RBS), which is incorporated into the FONVIEW software and offers a wide array of state-of-the-art billing features. With FONVIEW RBS, customers can define organizational sub-accounts as groups of FONCARD numbers, 800 numbers, accounting codes, or originating or terminating phone numbers. Customers also can re-rate calls, allocate taxes to the customer-defined sub-accounts and create customized bills internally. Previously, RBS was an option to FONVIEW 3.0 users, but now RBS is an integral part of the FONVIEW 4.1 software package.
 -- New CD-ROM Format
In addition to the new version of FONVIEW, Sprint announced the software program is now available on a single optical disc. Because of its high storage capacity, this CD-ROM format makes FONVIEW especially attractive to businesses generating millions of calls a month. Sprint will continue to offer FONVIEW on diskette and electronically delivered formats.
 -- Technical Support Helpline
FONVIEW customers can call 800-786-1222 to reach a special helpline for technical support and assistance in developing customer- specific applications.
"No other long distance provider offers a call management tool with the features and delivery options of the new FONVIEW," said Weigman. "Small, medium and large businesses can use FONVIEW for state-of-the-art cost and calling pattern analysis that can increase company productivity and enhance accuracy."
FONVIEW is available for IBM and IBM-compatible computers with 520K of available RAM (free memory), a hard disk drive and either a diskette drive or an optical disc drive compatible with Kodak writable CD-ROM discs.
Sprint is a diversified international telecommunications company with $9.2 billion in annual revenues and the United States' only nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network. Its divisions provide global long distance voice, data and video products and services, and local telephone services to more than 4 million subscriber lines in 17 states.
