SPRINT ANNOUNCES FIRST SPANISH INVOICE

KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) is the first major long distance company to offer a Spanish invoice. Sprint today announced the Sprint Advantage Spanish Invoice Option to make it easier for
Spanish-speaking customers to read their bill. The introduction of the Spanish invoice rounds out Sprint's package of Spanish language services.
"We are always looking for ways to improve customer service and, by giving our Spanish-speaking customers another choice in invoicing, we have made it easier than ever for them to do business with us," said Dave Schmieg, president of Sprint's Consumer Services Group.
Sprint offers customer service in Spanish, 24 hours a day. When Spanish-speaking customers sign up for Sprint service, each contact will be in the customers' language -- from the time they initially speak to a Sprint representative to when they receive their monthly invoices.
This is the beginning of Sprint's international invoicing campaign. Eventually other foreign languages will be delivered to the marketplace.
"Our advanced technology allows us to create specialized invoices for foreign market segments," said Schmieg. "We are able to build on our existing invoicing platform."
Sprint is a leader in providing telecommunications products and services to the Hispanic marketplace. In the last few years, Sprint has introduced:
-- FONCARD Espanol. Spanish-speaking customers can use the Spanish
instructions on the FONCARD Espanol to dial direct or to reach
bilingual operators and customer service representatives.
-- Sprint Express. When calling long distance from outside the
United States, Sprint Express allows you to call the United
States directly from most of Mexico, Central and South America.
And you can call to an additional 200 countries from some
 countries in the region.
-- Prepaid International Calling Card. Latin American travelers to
the United States can use the Sprint Prepaid Card to make
domestic calls in the United States, and from the United States
to virtually any international location with the assistance of
 pre-recorded instructions in Spanish.
-- Sprint's "The Most" and Sprint Clarity. Sprint's leading
residential calling plan, "The Most," and the company's small
business calling platform, Sprint Clarity, offer discounts on
calls to international locations, including Mexico, Central and
 South America.
-- International Videoconferencing Service. Sprint launched the
first public international videoconferencing service between the
United States, Mexico and Colombia, through agreements with
Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex), Mexico's telephone company, and
Telecom, the Colombian PTT. Sprint's global videoconferencing
service also is available elsewhere in Latin America.
-- International CLEARLINE Private Line Service. This service
enables U.S., South American and Mexican businesses to
communicate at speeds up to E-1 (2.448 Mbps) to provide a cost
effective alternative to standard international direct dialing
for point-to-point voice, fax and medium-speed data. It also
supports high-speed data and video transmissions.
-- The New Americans Program. Sprint, in conjunction with the U.S.
Office of Consumer Affairs and California-based Consumer Action,
developed a nationwide consumer education campaign to provide
basic telephone information to recent immigrants in Spanish,
 Chinese, Korean and English.
Sprint is a diversified international telecommunications company with more than $10 billion in annual revenues and the United States' only nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network. Its divisions provide global long distance voice, data and video products and services, local telephone services to nearly 6 million subscriber lines in 19 states, and cellular operations that serve 42 metropolitan markets and more than 50 rural service areas.
