 SPRINT ANNOUNCES CLARITY CALL CENTER:
THE FIRST PACKAGE FOR THE CALL CENTER INDUSTRY
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint (NYSE: FON) today announced the telecommunications industry's first comprehensive package of business services tailored for customer service and telemarketing businesses, known as the call center industry.
This is another of Sprint's 800 portability solutions. In March of 1993 Federal Communications Commission regulations will allow businesses to change their 800 service carrier without changing their 800 number.
Call centers employ an estimated 4.5 million people in the United States to take customer reservations, catalog orders, conduct surveys, market products and provide customer service. Sprint estimates that about 70 percent of the 800 number calling volume is used by the call center industry, which generates about $280 billion per year in goods and services sold in the United States.
Sprint Clarity Call Center, designed specifically for the call center industry, offers the reliability and advanced features which enable call centers to manage their operations and process customer requests more efficiently.
Sprint Clarity Call Center provides special pricing designed for the way call centers do business, offering them discounts up to 35 percent off daytime rates on evening, night and weekend calling. Sprint's new service also includes a unique package of features tailored for the call center industry with attractive feature discounts and a call center reporting package that identifies callers not able to get through on the 800 number, who called back and who didn't.
"Sprint Clarity Call Center transfers the power, value and functionality of the Clarity platform into the hands of the call center manager," said Gerry Euston, vice president of Sprint business product marketing. "Sprint Clarity Call Center advanced features are second to none in the industry and are delivered on Sprint's all- digital, fiber-optic network."
Call centers and other businesses promote their toll-free numbers through advertising, stationery and catalogs. Previously, if businesses wanted to change their 800 service, they had to change their 800 number.
"800 number portability provides significant opportunities for all 800 number customers," said Euston. "First and foremost, portability offers choice. Customers will be able to choose between carriers to set the features and functionality they want without giving up their existing 800 numbers.
"The $7 billion dollar 800 market was previously held hostage by AT&T because businesses were not free to choose their 800 carrier," Euston added. "With the advent of open competition and choice in the 800 market, businesses can expect rapid introduction of new services which better meet their particular needs. Sprint Clarity Call Center represents just one of the many uncompromised, flexible 800 Portability Solutions customers can expect from Sprint in the near future."
Sprint is a diversified international telecommunications company with $9 billion in annual revenues and the United States' only nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network. Its divisions provide global long distance voice, data and video products and services, and local telephone services to more than 4 million subscriber lines in 17 states.
