 SPRINT, AHA ANNOUNCE JOINT MARKETING PROGRAM
 KANSAS CITY, Mo., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint and the American

Hospital Association Services, Inc. (AHASI), a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association (AHA), announced a marketing agreement today that enhances the benefits of the AHA TelePLAN program to AHA member hospitals nationwide.
 The program lets the AHA's more than 5,500 member hospitals take advantage of Sprint's Healthcare Applications Network Delivery System (HANDS). HANDS is a package of telecommunications services, geared for the medical community, that includes WATS, 800, long distance and videoconferencing services and provides high-speed transmission of diagnostic-quality medical images, such as X-rays and CT scans. AHA TelePLAN hospitals also may offer Sprint long distance discounts to their employees as a benefit.
 The AHA picked Sprint because cost-effective implementation of healthcare applications require digital technology and Sprint has the United States' only nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network.
 With AHA TelePLAN, hospitals can reduce costs and boost productivity through applications uniquely available through Sprint such as:
 -- HANDS videoconferencing for mandatory training and recertification courses for medical staff. Videoconferencing is less costly than employee travel expenses and reduces the amount of time valuable personnel are off-site;
 -- HANDS videoconferencing for long distance consultation between geographically remote specialists;
 -- HANDS medical imaging and nuclear radiology: Doctors on opposite sides of the country can exchange X-rays, CT and PET scans, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), angiogram and sonogram readings in order to make long distance diagnoses. This boosts the resources of both rural and metropolitan hospitals, allowing them to increase their expertise without increasing staff.
 The AHA plans to publicize service availability to its members in January 1992. AHA TelePLAN will be marketed to healthcare organizations via the AHA's telemarketing and marketing and sales organization and also by Sprint's nationwide sales force.
 The AHA, a not-for-profit organization, serves as a national advocate for hospitals and the patients they serve, provides education and information for its members and informs the public on hospital and health care issues. AHASI is a wholly owned for-profit subsidiary of the American Hospital Association.
 Sprint is a unit of United Telecommunications, Inc. (NYSE: UT), a diversified international telecommunications company with $8.8 billion in revenues. Sprint, with the United States' only nationwide all-digital, fiber-optic network, provides a comprehensive array of global voice, data and video communications products and services.
