SPORTSCASTER HOWARD ESKIN DEBUTS SEPT. 8 ON KYW-TV'S NEWSDAY
PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Almost 10 years to the day that he made his television debut on KYW-TV, sportscaster Howard Eskin will return to the station Tuesday, Sept. 8, as sports anchor for KYW's 6 a.m. hour-long newscast, NewsDay.
An Emmy award-winning sportscaster, Eskin first burst onto the local TV scene when he left radio to anchor sports on Channel 3. With less than a month to prepare, Eskin, who had never anchored a TV sportscast, debuted on Sept. 20, 1982, to rave reviews. In 1986 he left KYW to join WTXF-TV's Ten O'Clock News as part of its original anchor team. He left Channel 29 in 1990.
Since 1986, Eskin has also provided sports commentary for WMMR-FM in addition to hosting his highly successful sports talk show on WIP All Sports Radio which he leaves later this month. He'll continue to be heard on WMMR, KYW's sister station, where he does a morning sports commentary Monday through Friday.
Eskin is a Philadelphia native who grew up in the Northeast section of the city. KYW-TV is the NBC affiliate in Philadelphia and is owned by Group W Television, Inc.
