SPORTS BETTING ON SATURDAY: Multiple bets.

ADVISING punters to avoid multiple bets feels a bit like being a superhero.

You save the world time after time but it always finds new ways to put itself in jeopardy.

Punters who regularly dabble in Patents or Yankees or Lucky 15s should just write "loser" on the top of their betting slips to save the betting shop settler time.

Have you ever fancied a horse so much you wanted to back it SEVEN times? No, thought not. But that's exactly what you do when you place a Yankee (a wager with four selections comprising 11 bets, 12 of which lose).

Lucky 15s are just as bad. How can something so fluffily named be so intrinsically evil? They are the betting equivalent of Ecstasy. Punters swear by them because, unlike Yankees, you get a return for just one winner out of four, but a fat lot of good one winner is when you've just paid for 15 bets.

Multiple bets are the reason bookies can afford to spend a fortnight on a foreign beach with a foxy floosie every three weeks.

Here are the five worst bets punters can have:

1. Patent. 2. Yankee. 3. National Lottery. 4. Lucky 15. 5. Everton to finish fourth.
