SPOOKY SILHOUETTE LANTERN; MAKE IT:.

HOWEVER you plan to celebrate, why not add some colour and spooky sparkle to your Hallowe'en night with this silhouette lantern? YOU WILL NEED A clean jam jar Acrylic paint (we used yellow, orange, red and green but you can choose any colours you like) Thin black card String or twine to make a handle A battery-powered tealight (this project is not suitable for real-flame candles) Ribbons and sequin strings to decorate METHOD 1. Use the acrylic to paint the inside of your jam jar with colourful designs. Leave to dry.

2. Use a writing pencil to draw some small spooky shapes such as bats, cats or witches onto the piece of thin black card. Cut around them carefully. 3. Glue the shapes onto the outside of your painted jam jar.

4. Tie the string or twine around the neck of the jar and knot securely (ask an adult to help if you're not sure) to make a handle. Take care if you carry your lantern as glass may shatter if it is dropped. 5. Tie some ribbons and sequins around the neck of the jar to add extra spooky sparkle.

6. Switch the tealight on and place it in the bottom of the jar. The light will make your painting glow while leaving the silhouettes dark.
