 SPIN CONFERENCE IN PHILADELPHIA
 PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Spinning off new commercial


ventures from existing corporate assets is the latest trend in corporate restructuring.
 Spin-offs creating new corporate structures is being done every day by major companies such as Marriott, Sears Roebuck, and ICI. "It's extraordinary. The rate of planned spin-offs is about four times the historical rate," commented Barbara Goodstein, managing analyst at New York-based "The Spin-Off Report," a speaker at the upcoming Spin Two '92 conference in Philadelphia.
 Maximizing shareholder value with existing technological and operating assets is the topic of the Spin Two '92 conference being held in Philadelphia Oct. 15-16. The conference will focus on the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, including representatives from Du Pont, ICI, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, Sybron Chemical Industries and Du Pont Merck.
 Sponsored by Price Waterhouse and IBC, an international conferencing corporation, the two day program will bring together many of the country's most experienced corporate executives in spin-offs, who will discuss strategic advantages of and vehicles for spinning off corporate assets.
 John Kiely, Price Waterhouse partner in the Pharmaceutical/Chemicals sector remarked, "The conference is a unique opportunity for companies in the pharmaceuticals, chemicals, materials and biotechnology community to hear from the experts on how to create shareholder value through existing technology and operating assets. The interactive workshops offer attendees to obtain answers and advice from top experts in the field."
 Business leaders, venture capitalists, and investment professionals will discuss recent trends in spin-off techniques and will describe first-hand experience in how successful companies have managed the process.
 Patrick Langlois, chief financial officer of Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, is giving the keynote address. Arden Engebretsen, former vice chairman and chief financial officer, Hercules, Inc., will address what has been driving the dramatic increase in the number and types of spin-offs witnessed over the past few years in the opening address. Panelists will include Peter Sears, SR One, Ltd.; Brian Finn, First Boston Corp.; Robert Reardon, E.I. du Pont, de Nemours and Company; and Dr. Gerald McAchran, Monsanto.
 The conference will take place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Philadelphia.
