SPI decreased by -0.01pc.

ISLAMABAD -- The weekly inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) decreased by -0.01 per cent the lowest income group up to Rs.8,000, for the week ended on April 26, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistic revealed.

The PBS data said that the weekly inflation for the income group earning between Rs 8,001 and Rs 12,000 per month witnessed an increase of 0.02 percent, while the SPI for the mid-level income group earning Rs 12,001 to Rs 18,000 per month witnessed a surge of 0.04 percent as compared to the previous week.

The SPI data shows an increase of 0.06 percent for the upper mid-level earning Rs 18,001 to Rs 35,000 per month, whereas for the top-end class earning more than Rs 35,000 per month the SPI increased by 0.07 percent.

The SPI for the groups falling in the income brackets of 8,001-12,000, 12,001- 18,000, 18,001-35,000 witnessed increase of 0.02, 0.04 and 0.06 percent respectively over the previous week. The SPI for the group falling above 35,000 showed increase of 0.07 percent.

Statistical data revealed that average price of twelve items including Match box, onion, chicken live, gur, masoor pulse, energy savour, milk fresh, curd, firewood, cooking oil, rice IRRI-6, and rice basmati broken registered increased.

According to data price of tomatoes, wheat, LPG (11 kg), red chillies, egg hen, bananas, gram pulse washed, mash pulsed, wheat flour bag, garlic, mustard oil, veg ghee loose, potatoes, sugar and moong pulse washed registered decreased during the week ended on march 21.

Average price of 26 items that are bread plain, beef, mutton, milk powered loose, salt powered, tea, cooked beef, cooked dal plate, tea prepared, cigarettes, long cloth, shirting, lawn, electric charges, gas charges from up to 100m, kerosene oil, diesel, tele local call and bath soap lifebuoy remain unchanged.
