SPI closes purchase of Hurd Windows and Doors.

6 August 2014 - US lumber producer Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) announced the completion of its deal to acquire Wisconsin-based Hurd Windows and Doors.

The agreement was announced early in July without any disclosure of financial terms. Hurd Windows and Doors, the name under which HWD Acquisition Inc does business, was sold to SPI by investment company Longroad Asset Management.

The deal will bring additional sales and manufacturing capacity to SPI, along with a highly skilled workforce and new product lines, the buyer said. Furthermore, it will help SPI expand its Window unit operations to Central and Eastern US and international markets.

The buyer intends to keep the Hurd and Superseal brands within its Windows unit. According to SPI, this acquisition creates the most vertically integrated windows supplier operating on the market today.
