SPEND 'FIRST FRIDAY' IN PHILADELPHIA'S OLD CITY

PHILADELPHIA, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- First Friday, the popular event that showcases the art galleries and showrooms of Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood, will be held on Friday, April 2, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Thirty-seven galleries and showrooms of fine and decorative arts, antiques and furniture will be open in the city's oldest neighborhood (bounded by 5th and Front and Vine and Walnut streets).
Many Old City galleries plan exhibition openings on First Friday evenings. Others host special lectures and programs featuring both local and international artists and designers. All events and openings are free.
During the past two years, Old City has experienced an influx of art galleries, contemporary and ethnic crafts galleries, furniture and lighting showrooms and decorative arts dealers into its 10-block area. First Friday provides the opportunity for visitors to become acquainted with a diverse array of art offerings including contemporary art, collectibles, antiques and cutting-edge design in lighting and furniture.
On-street parking is available in Old City, and numerous public parking lots are located near the galleries.
