SPEEDWAY: Tony turns up the heat.

five-times World Champion Tony Rickardsson moved back into World title contention by winning a thrilling Slovenian Grand Prix at Krsko last night as series leader Jason Crump slipped up. Rickardsson produced a masterful third-to-first manoevre to take him beyond Greg Hancock and Coventry skipper Andreas Jonsson at the end of the first lap of the Final, and trimmed Crump's World Championship lead to 15 points.

Jonsson subsequently slipped behind Hans Andersen, eventually coming to grief on the last bend in his efforts to make amends, but the Swede still moved into the top six of the overall standings.
