Barry Jinks, Spectrum's president and chief executive officer, said, "Strong orders during the fourth quarter of 1992 have left us with a healthy backlog for 1993 totaling $2,000,000. Use and testing by major PC vendors of our new proprietary MWAVE product, for use by the multimedia industry, is particularly encouraging for 1993. Other products capable of audio and video compression are gaining acceptance as well."
Jinks further stated, "With our strong financial condition totaling over $3,000,000 in cash and virtually no debt, we are in an excellent position to respond to acquisition opportunities as they arise. In addition, we intend to expand our presence in the U.S. through the opening of our third sales office in Austin, Texas. The run rates we achieved in the fourth quarter of 1992, coupled with the improvement in all sectors of the economy, leaves us highly confident 1993 will be a very successful year for Spectrum."
The company also reported its audited financial results for the year ended Dec. 31, 1992. Sales increased 30 percent to a record $8,452,000 from $6,525,000 the prior year.
