SPECTRUM SIGNAL PROCESSING ANNOUNCES DSP HARDWARE & SOFTWARE DESIGN WIN WITH GCT TECHNOLOGY OF JAPAN

 Initial Order Exceeds $500,000 for Video Teleconferencing Products
 for Delivery In 1994
 BURNABY, British Columbia, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. (Nasdaq-NNM: SSPIF; TSE & VSE: SSY) announced today its entry into the video teleconferencing market with the establishment of a relationship with GC Technology Inc. of Japan. GCT has placed an initial order with Spectrum to design and manufacture DSP boards and related DSP software modules to be integrated into GCT's complete video teleconferencing equipment.
 The terms of the order with GCT call for Spectrum to design, develop and manufacture two boards and develop acoustic echo cancellation and audio data compression DSP software. Production will begin in the fourth quarter of 1994 and additional business is expected in 1995 and on.
 Video teleconferencing provides two parties the ability to meet via telephone while seeing each other simultaneously, thereby providing face-to-face meetings without the need to travel.
