SPECTRUM CLOSES $7 MILLION PRIVATE PLACEMENT

 VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Further to its earlier release of April 19, 1993, Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. (AMEX: SNL.EC; Vancouver: SSY) (the "company") yesterday closed the private placement of 1,000,000 special warrants at a price of $7 (CDN) per special warrant. The issue, arranged by First Marathon Securities Ltd. as agents, entitles the holder of a special warrant to purchase one common share of the company at no additional cost. It is anticipated that the special warrants will be exchanged for common shares and that the net proceeds of the offering will be released from trust to the company within approximately 90 days, following completion of the necessary documentation and approval of same by regulatory authorities. Marleau Lemire Securities Inc. participated with First Marathon in this transaction.
