SPECTRUM BOOKS ORDERS EXCEEDING $1,100,000 AND ENTERS CORPORATE PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH E-SYSTEMS

 VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. (NASDAQ: SSPIF; Vancouver: SSY) today announced it has signed a corporate procurement agreement with E-Systems Inc. (NYSE: ESY) of Dallas. The one-year contract sets out terms and conditions for the purchase of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) products from Spectrum by the high technology electronic systems company. It establishes Spectrum as the preferred vendor of DSP-based products within E-Systems. Currently, Spectrum is working with E-Systems on several communications projects.
 "Spectrum has been a first-rate supplier to E-Systems over the past few years," said Steve Mendelsohn, sub-contractor manager at E-Systems. "This agreement confirms the quality of Spectrum's DSP products and know-how and our desire to include them in E-Systems' projects."
 "This corporate procurement agreement with E-Systems solidifies our relationship with this important high technology electronic systems company," said Barry Jinks, Spectrum's president and chief executive officer. "This is a model agreement which Spectrum intends to utilize with other significant customers."
 Several other OEM agreements were also announced by Spectrum. OAR Corp. (San Diego) placed a $450,000 order for Spectrum's DSP products for use in sophisticated communications equipment. Safeco Corp. (Chicago), a leader in computerized test equipment, is developing cellular telephone test equipment based on a $280,000 order of Spectrum equipment. The Anadrill Division of Schlumberger Ltd. (NYSE: SLB), a world leader in oil-field testing and analysis equipment, ordered $210,000 to continue outfitting it's field service units with advanced oil well logging equipment. Applied Signal Technology (Sunnyvale, Calif.) signed a one-year procurement agreement for up to $180,000 in DSP products for integration into their electronic telecommunication analysis equipment.
 "During the last quarter we have seen the benefits of the industrial strategic selling program we instituted earlier this year," said Jinks. "At the moment, our backlog of purchase commitments stands at over $2.6 million, up by more than 30 percent from the beginning of the year."
