SPECIAL FUND HELPS NJNG CUSTOMERS AVOID THE 'BIG CHILL'
WALL, N.J., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- For the sixth consecutive year, New Jersey Natural Gas Company (NJNG) will help customers who cannot pay their bills avoid the big chill.' Through the Gift of Warmth Fund, the utility, in cooperation with social service agencies, assists qualifying NJNG customers who have exhausted all other forms of financial aid and meet certain energy assistance guidelines. In the last five years, nearly 3,800 needy families in Monmouth, Ocean and Morris counties received Gift of Warmth dollars. Gift of Warmth recipients typically face financial difficulties due to the current economic climate, limited incomes or unexpected medical bills. The Gift of Warmth is funded by customer, employee and shareholder contributions and is administered by the United Way of Monmouth County. NJNG matches 50 percent of each donation. Last year, the United Way distributed over $180,000 in assistance. Tax-deductible contributions may be mailed to the Gift of Warmth Fund, P.O. Box 1463, Wall, N.J. 07719.
