SPECIAL DEVICES INC. ANNOUNCES APPROVAL OF
ITS REQUEST FOR A NON-CONFORMING USE PERMIT
NEWHALL, Calif., Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Special Devices Inc. (NASDAQ: SDII) announced today that it has received approval of its request for a Non-conforming Use Permit to continue operations at its Newhall facility through at least Dec. 31, 2001. This facility is the company's primary manufacturing site and the location of its executive offices.
Thomas F. Treinen stated that the granting of this permit request fulfilled the company's desire to remain in Newhall and confirmed management's belief that such a permit would be granted. He also noted that approval of the permit has removed an uncertainty surrounding the company's future operating results since it no longer faces the possibility of a disruptive and potentially costly forced relocation.
The company is a leader in the design and manufacture of highly reliable pyrotechnic devices used by the aerospace industry, primarily in tactical missile systems, and by the automotive industry as initiators in airbag systems.
