 SOUTHWEST AIRLINES REPORTS MAY TRAFFIC
 DALLAS, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Herbert D. Kelleher, chairman of the


board and president of Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV), announced today that the company flew 1,138.9 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in May 1992, a 24.7 percent increase over the 913.6 million RPMs flown in May of last year. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 9 percent to 1,685.0 million from the May 1991 level of 1,545.5 million ASMs. The load factor for the month was 67.6 percent compared to 59.1 percent for the same period of a year ago.
 For the first five months of 1992, Southwest flew 5,364.7 million RPMs, compared with the 4,370.1 million RPMs recorded for the same period in 1991, an increase of 22.8 percent. Available seat miles increased 13.1 percent to 8,296.6 million from the year-to-date 1991 level of 7,332.6 million. The year-to-date load factor was 64.7 percent, compared to 59.6 percent for the same period last year.
