SOUTHWEST AIRLINES NAMES RAPP AS VICE PRESIDENT

 DALLAS, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert W. Rapp has been named vice president-systems for Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV).
 Rapp, who most recently was director-information systems for Pacific Enterprises Oil Company (USA), will be responsible for overseeing Southwest's expanding information and technology needs.
 "We are excited about Bob joining the Southwest family to head our Systems Department. That group is expected to fill a leadership role in Southwest's efforts to find faster, better, and less expensive ways to provide the legendary customer service for which our company has become famous," said John Denison, executive vice president-corporate services.
 "Bob's track record as a leader of people and skills as a technology innovator over the past 20 plus years will be utilized fully as he and his department face the challenges before them."
 Rapp will be responsible for the entirety of the airline's computer and communications services.
 He received a B.S. degree in applied science from Miami University and later earned a M.S. in management and administrative science from the University of Texas.
 Rapp and his wife, Terri, and one daughter live in Plano, Texas.
