SOUTHWEST AIRLINES' RAT RACE PARODIES ADVENTURES OF CORPORATE LIFE
 DURING FREEDOM FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES
DETROIT, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Has life at "the office" become a humdrum routine? If you think you've mastered the skills of juggling files, answering phones and avoiding corporate obstacles, then try your hand at this "real-life" rat race.
Southwest Airlines presents the "Just Plane Smart Games" Rat Race, a tag-team relay that parodies corporate life, on June 22 through June 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Avenue Atrium in the Renaissance Center.
The object is to scurry at top speed through the maze -- ultimately carrying a briefcase, an overflowing file folder, stacks of phone messages, a coffee mug full of oh-so-chic spring water, and a gift for the boss, with a newspaper tucked under one arm -- all while enduring obstacles such as phone tag and office aerobics.
Absolutely no business acumen or athletic ability is required for this four-person team relay. The Rat Race is played solely for laughs and cumulative speed, not to mention a chance to win great prizes.
Champion rat-racers will receive round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines. Second- and third-place winners will receive special gift packages, compliments of the Renaissance Center. And each team member who "just plane" participates gets a Southwest Airlines "Just Plane Smart" hat and a certificate to prove they challenged the Rat Race.
Preliminary rounds are Monday, June 22, through Thursday, June 25, with championship finals being held on Friday, June 26.
The Southwest Airlines "Just Plane Smart Games" are one of more than 100 free events in the 1992 Detroit-Windsor Freedom Festival.
So, if you and your co-workers are looking for a physically challenging alternative to desk-sitting, paper-chasing and phone- tagging, join the Rat Race. For more information, call 313-259-5400.
