SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND TELEPHONE ANNOUNCES FUTURE REDEMPTION OF CERTAIN MEDIUM-TERM NOTES

 NEW HAVEN, Conn., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern New England Telephone, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Southern New England Telecommunications Corporation (NYSE: SNG), announced today following the conclusion of its recent public tender offers through Salomon Brothers Inc for any and all of its outstanding $120 million of 9.625% Medium-Term Notes, Series A due 2030 and its $100 million of 9.60% Medium-Term Notes, Series A due 2030, the company's irrevocable decision to call for redemption the remaining outstanding notes on Feb. 15, 1995, the initial redemption date for both note issuances.
 The company's irrevocable call notice affects approximately $32 million of the originally issued $120 million of 9.625% Notes and $21 million of the originally issued $100 million of 9.60% Notes that remain outstanding as of Jan. 3, 1994.
