SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA NISSAN DEALERS LEAD DRIVE
 FOR GUADALAJARA RELIEF EFFORT
CARSON, Calif. May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California Nissan dealers have organized a relief effort to aid victims of the recent Guadalajara tragedy, acting as official drop-off points for canned food and clothing.
The 65 Nissan dealers in the Los Angeles metropolitan area will be collecting food and clothing through May 10, after which time the goods will be transported to Guadalajara. The relief effort began April 25, three days after nearly 200 people were killed and thousands were left homeless when gas explosions ripped through the Mexican city.
"We realize that this tragedy in some way touches a great number of residents in our community, and we see this effort as a way to lend a hand in times of trouble," said Jed Connelly, Nissan's Southwest regional general manager.
Nissan worked with Los Angeles City Councilman Richard Alatorre to ensure the collected goods would be distributed by the proper authorities in Guadalajara.
