SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA McDONALD'S RESTAURANTS HELP TO GET OUT THE McVOTE
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20 /PRNewsire/ -- Southern California McDonald's restaurants are launching a statewide in-store voter registration drive by offering California voter registration forms to its customers.
The program, endorsed by California Secretary of State March Fong Eu, is designed to increase the number of registered voters in California for the upcoming national election.
From Aug. 29 through Oct. 5, United States citizens, age 18 years and older, can pick up a voter registration form for the upcoming Nov. 3 presidential elections at any participating McDonald's restaurant in California. Residents fill out the application and mail it back to the Registrars Office. Upon receipt of the form, a ballot is then mailed to the voter's home address.
"McDonald's has an ongoing commitment to the promotion of citizenship goals," said Lindsay Hughes, president of the McDonald's Operators' Association of Southern California. "We hope to make it easier for people to exercise one of the freedoms they enjoy most as American citizens."
McDonald's is the only quick-service restaurant in the state to encourage its customers to register to vote. Participating McDonald's restaurants in Southern California are located throughout Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Ventura, Riverside and Orange counties.
