 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON STRESSES
 AVAILABILITY OF CUSTOMER PAYMENT PROGRAMS
 ROSEMEAD, Calif., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Customers who are having difficulty paying their monthly electricity bills are being encouraged by Southern California Edison to take advantage of the company's numerous payment programs.
 Edison is stressing the availability of the programs, as many customers have felt the effects of job loss, limited funds caused by the state's budget crisis, and higher bills resulting from the region's recent heat wave.
 "We understand that these issues have had an impact on many of our residential and business customers," said Robert H. Bridenbecker, Edison's vice president of customer service. "It is critical that those who are affected contact us as soon as possible, so we can discuss payment options."
 Specifically, Edison's payment programs include:
 -- Level Pay Plan, where the residential customer's bill is averaged into equal monthly payments;
 -- Individualized Payment Plan, which offers agreeable payment arrangements structured to meet a customer's specific needs. This is offered for both residential and commercial customers; and
 -- Credit Card Payment. Edison accepts Visa and Master Card from both residential and commercial customers.
 For more information, customers who need a payment plan arranged are encouraged to call Edison as soon as they have received their electric bill. A toll-free telephone number is shown on the bill, and representatives are available 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
 To help reduce monthly electricity charges, customers are also encouraged to contact Edison's Action Line at 800-952-5062. A customer service representative will explain how a free audit for homes and businesses can help save energy. They will also provide details about rebate programs for energy-efficiency appliance purchases, and send information about additional energy-savings tips.
