SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON ELECTS MARGARET H. JORDAN AS HEALTH CARE V.P.
ROSEMEAD, Calif., Nov. 19 ~PRNewswire~ -- Margaret H. Jordan, 49, has been elected vice president - Health Care of Southern California Edison Co., the electric utility subsidiary of SCEcorp (NYSE: SCE). In her new position, Jordan will be responsible for all of Edison's health care organization, which provides health care and medical coverage for Edison's 17,000 employees and 39,000 additional participants, dependents and retirees, and for Edison's employee services organization, which deals with safety, workers' compensation and disability issues. Edison's health care organization, nationally recognized as a leader in corporate health care, includes 10 Edison- owned clinics as well as a network of independent physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers. Jordan assumes her new job Dec. 7. Edison, one of the nation's largest electric utilities, serves most of Southern California, with more than 10 million people residing in its 50,000-square-mile service territory. Since 1986, Jordan has been vice president and regional manager of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Texas, located in Dallas. She previously was associate regional manager of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan in Atlanta (1984-86), and director of Licensing, Accreditation and Quality Assurance for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan~Kaiser Foundation Hospitals in Oakland, Calif. (1981-84). Earlier, she was associate bureau director, Community Health Center, for the U.S. Public Health Service in Rockville, Md. (1980-81), associate administrator of Out-Patient, Community and Emergency Services of San Francisco General Hospital and Medical Center (1978-80). She served as chief of the Health Planning and Facilities Branch of the U.S. Public Health Service, Region IX (1974-76), and was affiliated with Lester Gorsline Associates, Terra Linda, Calif. (1972-74) as a consultant to regional hospitals on organizational and health care delivery matters. She was senior public health nurse of the Comprehensive Child Care Project of Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco (1968-70), and a public health and private duty nurse in Boston (1965-66) and San Bernardino, Calif. (1964-65). Jordan received an undergraduate degree in nursing in 1964 from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., and a master's of Public Health, Health Administration and Planning in 1972 from the University of California, Berkeley. She completed Kaiser Permanente's Executive Program at Stanford University in 1982 and Harvard University's Advanced Management Program in 1991. She is a registered nurse in California and has had numerous professional and civic affiliations, including being a member of the executive board of the American Public Health Association, the Secretary's Council on Health Promotion and Prevention, a founding director of the National Black Nurses Association, and the board of directors of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the Health Industry Council of Dallas.
