SOUTH-WESTERN PUBLISHING TO SELL WICAT ADULT EDUCATION COURSEWARE
OREM, Utah, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Wicat Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: WCAT) announced today that it has signed South-Western Publishing Co., (Cincinnati), a leading textbook publisher in adult education, to market Wicat's computer-based adult education courseware.
Under terms of the agreement, South-Western will initially act as an agent for Wicat in identifying and qualifying potential customers in the community college, corrections, career college and vocational technical schools markets.
"South-Western has a sales force that is several times as large as Wicat's, which will greatly expand Wicat's presence in these markets," according to Brent Alderman, director of adult education marketing at Wicat. "In return, South-Western can now offer their adult education customers a technology-based solution to complement their quality textbook line," Alderman continued.
Yesterday, Wicat announced six new computer-based education offerings for adults. With these additions, Wicat now has courseware offerings that range from functional literacy and numeracy through high school GED requirements and life and work skills. Wicat also offers comprehensive testing products correlated to major national adult tests (TABE, ABLE, CASAS, and the GED test). Wicat is already a leading provider of adult education with clients that include the Brenlin Group (Akron, Ohio), Bakersfield Community College (Bakersfield, Calif.), Hamilton County Correctional Facility (Cincinnati) and the Asher School of Business (Atlanta).
South-Western Publishing, a major force in all educational publishing, offers an extensive line of innovative textbooks, supplementary items and software packages. South-Western, a Thomson Corp., has been providing quality instructional materials for nearly a century.
Wicat Systems is a world leader in technology-based education and training, providing products and services to significantly improve learning in schools, industries, military and government. Wicat stock is traded in the NASDAQ market under the symbol of WCAT.
