SOUTH FLORIDA DIGNITARY RECOGNIZES CAC-RAMSAY HEALTH PLANS FOR PROMPT HURRICANE DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS

CORAL GABLES, Fla., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- State Representative Carlos Valdes (Rep., District 111), will officially recognize CAC-Ramsay Health Plans -- South Florida's second largest Health Maintenance Organization -- with a proclamation on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 10:30 a.m., 2850 Douglas Road, for its hurricane disaster relief efforts.
Valdes will present the award to CAC-Ramsay Health Plans' Chief Executive Officer, Luis Lamela during a brief ceremony.
"I feel that it is important to recognize CAC-Ramsay Health Plans for their prompt response following Hurricane Andrew, the worst natural disaster to occur in this country," said Valdes. "It's refreshing when the private sector steps in to lend a hand to those people who need it the most."
Following Hurricane Andrew CAC-Ramsay Health Plans assisted members and others in the devastated areas by sending its mobile units into deep South Dade and providing minor medical attention to those in need.
"As a company that's been a member of the South Florida community for more than 20 years, we felt compelled to help our neighbors. It was rewarding to know that the assistance CAC-Ramsay provided was helping our members and others in need," said Lamela.
CAC-Ramsay Health Plans is a South Florida-based federally qualified Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), serving the needs of over 112,000 members. The company is Florida's first licensed HMO and operates 13 medical centers which are conveniently located throughout Dade and Broward counties.
